How to Correctly Apply Adhesives When Installing Your Dog-G8 

Installing your Dog-G8 with acrylic foam tape (adhesives) is simple, but getting a strong, long-lasting bond depends on how you prepare and apply it. Follow these best practices to make sure your gate is fitted securely and safely.

Step 1: Prepare the Surface Area

Surface preparation is the most important part of the installation process.

• Clean the area thoroughly using alcohol wipes and a clean, dry cloth.

• Wipe in one direction to remove dust, dirt, grease, or oil.

• Allow the surface to dry completely before moving on.

⚠️ If the surface isn’t clean and dry, the tape will bond to the contaminants instead of the surface itself.

Step 2: Apply the Tape

• Carefully peel away the blue or red tape liner from the back of the bracket, avoid touching the adhesive with your fingers.

• Press the bracket firmly and evenly onto the prepared surface. Use the palm of your hand or thumb to apply consistent pressure onto the metal brackets across the entire strip.

• Once in place, the tape will continue to strengthen over the next 24 - 72 hours as it fully bonds. 

Step 3: Let the Adhesive Cure

• After applying the tape, wait at least 24 hours before mounting the Dog-G8  into the brackets. This curing time allows the adhesive to achieve maximum strength.

Troubleshooting: What if the Tape Doesn’t Stick?

Sometimes surfaces can make adhesion more challenging.

• Ask yourself: what is the surface made of plastic, painted wood, varnish, or metal?

In some cases, the adhesives will not bond to surface areas such as Brick, Cement, Stone, Plaster board, Wood. If this is your surface area, you will need to screw fix the brackets into place with the screw provided.

Temperature Tips

Applying acrylic foam tape performs best when applied at ambient room temperature.

• Cold conditions can make the tape stiff, limiting how well it bonds initially.

• Once fully bonded, the tape is highly durable and can withstand extreme temperatures from -40°C to +200°C.
