Detailed Installation Guidance

Start by measuring the width of the entrance where the mounting brackets will be fitted, then select the closest compatible gate size.

Campervans without a Kitchen Cabinet

Mount the brackets to the vehicle frame on either side of the entrance. For campervan installations, we highly recommend screw-fixing the brackets to provide a secure and reliable installation.

Campervans with a Kitchen Cabinet

Mount the brackets to the vehicle frame on one side and the kitchen cabinet on the other, allowing the Dog-G8 to extend securely across the entrance.

Use the gate hooks as a guide to position the brackets correctly. We recommend fitting the gate floor level.

Once installed, simply slot your pre-assembled Dog-G8 into the brackets. Extend the gate across the entrance when needed, fold it neatly to one side, or remove it completely when not in use.

Full fitting instructions are included with every Dog-G8.

FAQs

Have more questions? Please head to our dedicated FAQ page or contact us directly.

Can I close my sliding door with Dog-G8 installed?

Yes. You can continue to open and close your sliding door with Dog-G8 installed, provided the mounting brackets are positioned so they do not interfere with the door, handles or locking mechanisms.

The Dog-G8 can remain across, folded to the side when not required, or you can remove the gate completely from its brackets whenever you wish to close the door.

Do I need to screw fix into my camper?

This depends on the surface where the mounting brackets will be installed. Many campervans have curved plastic, metal or fabric-lined surfaces, which are not suitable for adhesive fixing. In these areas, we recommend screw-fixing the brackets for a secure installation. Suitable self-tapping screws are provided with your DOG-G8.

If you are mounting to a smooth, flat and non-curved surface, such as a kitchen cabinet, our high-strength adhesive tape may be used instead.

Once installed, the brackets remain in position, while the DOG-G8 itself can be quickly docked in and out of the brackets whenever required.

Does it matter if the gate width is different to my opening width?

We design our gate widths to be as compatible with camper layouts as possible. However, due to the wide variety of vehicle designs and custom interiors, it isn’t always possible for the gate width to match an opening perfectly.

small difference in width is not an issue:

  • If the gate is up to 4cm wider than the opening, the gate will bow very slightly. This is normal and does not affect performance or safety.
  • If the width difference is between 4-8cm, brackets can be mounted further along the surface (such as a kitchen cabinet or vehicle side wall) to create a more taut and secure fit.

If there is no suitable surface area available, please contact us. We can supply specialised parts or custom solutions to ensure the gate fits correctly.

I cannot see my camper available?

If your camper isn’t shown in the available options, please contact us directly with the measurements and a few photos of the opening.

To date, we haven’t encountered a camper we couldn’t fit. Our team will review your setup and provide specialist guidance and recommendations to ensure you get the correct gate and fitting solution.
