But when I’m asked what makes the best dog gates genuinely suitable for dogs, I think you need to look beyond whether a barrier simply fits the opening.
Think about how securely it locks, how your dog is likely to interact with it, where you need to use it and whether the gate will still work for you as those needs change.

Traditional dog gates swing on a hinge as you push or pull them, requiring a large "clearance zone" to open and close.
